What is a sub-merchant?
Sub-merchants are generally small-to-medium-sized businesses that have entered into an agreement with the payment facilitator for the acceptance of credit card payments. OPUL is a registered payment facilitator and enables practices to process payments for their patients. Practices are referred to as sub-merchants in this context.
How long is the sub-merchant application review process?
Normal processing time for OPUL Underwriting review and final approval of a sub-merchant application is between 4-7 business days.
What happens to the documents we submit along with our sub-merchant application?
Once the sub-merchant application process is complete, documents are securely stored for five years after the account closure per industry and government regulations.
What can we do if our sub-merchant application is not approved?
Unfortunately, we cannot disclose the exact reason(s) why a sub-merchant's application doesn't get approved. Listed below are some common reasons we are unable to approve a sub-merchant:
- We were unable to verify the sub-merchant's Taxpayer Identification Number (TIN)
- We were unable to verify the owner or practice name
- The address input in the sub-merchant application is a PO Box instead of a physical address
